How do I add a license to my blog?

For your next assignment, I’ve tasked you all with adding a license to your blogs. I’ve created this tutorial to show you how to do that in WordPress.

First, you’ll need to go to your WordPress dashboard and make sure you’re under “My Sites.”

Next, click on “customize” next to themes.

You’ll be taken to a page that has this sidebar:

Click on “Widgets,” then click on “Add a widget.” This will make a new sidebar. Scroll until you find “Text” widget.

Click on that. Then new widget will look like this:

In a separate tab on your computer, go to Creative Commons, and there you will choose your license. After you have selected what type, scroll down until you see this:

You will select the code in that text box and copy it as you normally do text. Go back to your WordPress tab.

Make sure that “Text” is selected on your Widget:

Paste your code into that box. At the top, you will hit “Save and Publish.” You will now have a license on your blog that looks like this:

Congrats! You have officially put a Creative Commons license on your blog!
